Dwarf Sour Cherries (Prunus cerasus L.)

Saskatoon Berries

Crimson Passion

Not So Sour

Surprisingly, sour cherries can have as much or more sugar than sweet cherries. Also, sour cherries are much juicier than sweet cherries. They taste best when they can be shaken off the trees.

Dwarf sour cherries, or Prunus cerasus L., bred by the University of Saskatchewan have exceptional cold hardiness and are well suited to mechanical harvesting which makes for easy orchard maintenance.

Suitable to the harsh Canadian climate, sour cherries have a superior flavor and an exceptional quality that makes them perfect for the family fruit bowl as well as for large- scale processing. Plants generally begin to produce fruit in their fourth year.
